i have a refuge and there is no way to fit a skimmer in it, i have a current hang on rated for 150 gal.my tank is 150 gal. and its not doing the job. if i can set it in where the mud bed is it will fit just wondering if i suspend it around 3in. from the mud bed will it work since thats the only place it will fit

nooooo!!!! all the good stuff in your fuge will be serving your tank no purpose, bc the skimmer will be striping it all out. Bad idea to have it in your fuge.

i TOTALLY agree.  never put a skimmer in a fuge if you don't ABSOLUTELY have to...completely defeats the purpose of the fuge, ESPECIALLY if you put it in the main compartment with the mudd...that's where all the stuff grows, breeds and breaks down the crud and feeds your tank...i'm a strong believer in fuges...i think they are a HUGE benefit to a reef system...but i also am a huge believer in skimming.  i personally don't think that you should run one without the other, even though it IS possible...i just believe in running them seperately.  i have my large fuge, and then i have another sump strictly to add water volume and house my skimmer so that i'm not stripping before OR after my fuge.  if you can get another sump hooked up, and run it in there, seperate from the fuge, or maybe just get a more powerful hang on back skimmer, i would recommend that...but no, don't put it in your fuge...not unless you are planning on getting rid of your fuge altogether.
