Just wanted to know if theres any locals that sell frags. I want to really get my tank looking great but these LFS prices are just killing me! Ouch
Hey just wanted to introduce myself. I am a mother of three currently living in miami Florida. Currently I own 3 reef tanks. My first which I started 7 years ago because my son wanted a "Nemo". Well that started my journey into reefkeeping and led me to get a 55 gallon less than a year later. A year ago I then upgraded my 55 to a 175 bowfront. I also co-own a newly setup jbj 12 gl nano with my 16 year old daughter.

Welcome, im in Palm Beach, and i also have a bowfront like yours. There awesome! I love the extra room the Bow gives you. I think you'll find things alot cheaper on here. I have a get LFS here that has awesome deals on ORA frags. He's like half the price of everywhere else, and his cheap ones are beautiful!
aww thanx everyone for being so welcoming.I normally go into Reef Central and just watch for good deals and read up on posts. It gets a little crazy in there sometimes so I decided to try me luck elsewhere. Ash dont worry Im in no hurry. I really want her to enjoy doing this and to understand that it takes patience.(hopefully she has more than me) lol. Maxima: I couldnt ask for a better tank, I got at at an awesome price from someone who bought a house and its contents, he realized real quick he couldnt take care if it. He had a big leak and ruined the stand so recently i had to replace it. Im really excited about having it, it looks awesome when you come in. It just needs so corals and I hate breaking the bank everytime I get something nice. I sear my husband is gonna kick me out if i continue this hobby.whats the name of the LFS you go to. My sister lives in west palm. I may stop by there sometime.
Thanks for joining we always enjoy seeing new faces around here
Well ash and i have alot of frags and zoas. We can hook u up with stuff! My names josiah btw. Can we have pics of your tank please? My tank is one of the older posts that says "My 155 gal Reef".
thanx guys, Im having some problems with one of my tek fixtures. As soon as I get the lights up and running i will post some pics.
it's good that you want your daughter to learn patience early on...ESPECIALLY in this hobby. and ESPECIALLY with a nano tank. nanos are hardest to keep if you(your daughter) are new to reef keeping, but zoa garden nanos are the easiest way to go, so i'm excited for you and her! it's a great bonding experience too. the reason i got into the hobby when i was 6 was because of my father. now I'M teaching HIM everything there is to know cause he got lazy and stopped learning and taking care of his tank. lol. every time he comes to visit me, he complains about how all my tanks always looks so amazing, and his looks like crap and doesn't even have any coralline algae growing. i told him if he give me his credit card, i will overhaul his tank for him, and he wont regret it. he STILL has magnetic ballasts running his MH. it's a 300g custom tank, and he only has 3x175 MH (on 15 year old magnetic ballasts) with like, two VHO actinics. and he wonders why he goes out and spends $300 on corals like elegances, frogspawns, torches, etc...all he can keep alive are mushrooms and leathers, and ALL the coral life COMPLETELY stops not even halfway down the tank because his lighting is terrible AND he has no reflectors! i said him if he lets me at his tank, not olny will he be able to keep WHATEVER he wants in there, but his electric bill with drop dramatically just by replacing those magnetics with electronic ballasts. all i've been able to get him to do without me there(he's in south florida, i'm in orlando...and for some reason he is afraid to take all the measurements himself and have me place the order...and he's REALLY handy too, so i don't get it...but whatever..lol) to hold his hand so far is change the type of lamp he uses from some generic lamp to hamilton 14ks...he, and even my MOM, who doesn't even care about the tank, were floored at what a difference THAT made...and that's NOTHING compared to what it COULD look like. i want his 300 for my own! lol! anywaaaaayyyy...another famous "ReefSurgeon" rant...haha! excited to here from you, and i hope that i can help you and your daughter put together a beautiful zoa garden! i have been meaning to do that, and not i'm addicted to fragging and sharing...hopefully one day i will see MY zoas garden come to life! lol!
Welcome MERMAID hope you enjoy the forum.....
